Model of Villa la Roche-Jeanneret, 1923-25
Le Corbusier
Made by Peter Lines and Neil Fletcher, 1986-87
Card on timber base
h. 30cm
UEA 31297Le Corbusier was interested in a new architecture for the industrial age and developed the concept of a building as a machine for living in. The Villa la Roche was built with reinforced concrete for Le Corbusiers brother and for banker and art collector Raoul la Roche. La Roche, who had bought a number of works by Ozenfant and Le Corbusier, commented to the architect: Your painting is at the level of your architecture and since it has come out of it, that it return there is logical.
