The Ecole de Nancy is well represented with works by its founding president Emile Gall and vice-president Louis Majorelle.
All of the Gall furniture in the Anderson Collection demonstrates the intricate and delicate marquetry decoration for which Gall was renowned. Indigenous and exotic woods were used, drawn from a stock of some six hundred veneers to reproduce landscape and botanical designs often associated with the Lorraine region of France, about which Galle was passionate.
There are also pieces by Louis Majorelle and a large carpet, previously attributed to William Morris, now thought to be a Donegal hand-knotted carpet made by Morton & Co.
