How have the collections grown over the years?
In Pail 1978 there were around 600 objects in the collections. Now, the Sainsbury Collections have more than 1,700 objects. In April 1978 the Sainsbury Centre housed the Sainsbury Collection: today it also houses the University of East Anglia Collection of Abstract and Constructivist Art, Architecture and Design, the Anderson Collection of Art Nouveau and various teaching collections.

Do the objects in the collections ever get lent out to other galleries and museums?
Every year the Sainsbury Centre lends a large number of objects to major exhibitions worldwide.

What kind of exhibitions does the Sainsbury Centre put on?
Out exhibition programme reflects the collections by including a wide range of contemporary art and ancient world art. Many of these exhibitions are initiated by the Sainsbury Centre; some are developed in partnership with other galleries and others initiated by external curators or institutes.

If an object is not on display, can I arrange to come and see it?
Yes, subject to staff availability and the location of the object (if it being conserved or is out on loan, it may not be possible to view it for some time).
