Glass
UEA 21033 - Vase, Loetz |
UEA 21017 - Vase 'blow-out' cameo glass, Emile Gall |
UEA 21032 - Vase, Louis Comfort Tiffany |
Glassware comprises a quarter of the Anderson collection and includes French, Austrian, German and American works, by makers such as Emile Gall, the Daum Brothers, Loetz and Louis Comfort Tiffany.
The collection also features examples of lustre glass produced by Louis Comfort Tiffany in America. The lustre effect was produced by using metallic oxides, emulating ancient glass that had gained an iridescent surface due to the exposure to certain minerals in the earth. His work was widely admired and imitated, notably by the Loetz factory in Austria and its followers, all represented in the collection.
