Mapping Norfolk

1st Jul 2008 - 31st Aug 2008

This exhibition by Kabir Hussain is on display in the link between 1 July and 31 August.

At the centre of Mapping Norfolk, an exhibition by Kabir Hussain, are three large works in bronze that form a sculptural map of Norfolk. Hussains experience of the landscapes of Peru, India, Eritrea and the UK inform his sculptural practice. Now, having lived in Kings Lynn since 2001, he is exploring the Norfolk lanscape he calls home.

This thought-provoking exhibition follows extensive research carried out on land, at sea and from the air, including interviews with local residents and experts on topics ranging from history and archaeology to topography and climate change. Mapping Norfolk aims to rediscover and celebrate our local heritage by encouraging a fresh outlook on the diverse landscape we see every day.

Curated by Atsuko Kikuchi, curatorial fellow in cultural diversity for the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts.
