Whilst the refurbishment and building work continues at the Sainsbury Centre, the surrounding hoardings have again become a blank canvas. In the second and final stage of this exciting project, Rosie Greenhalgh and Kevin Parker are the two local artists who have been specially commissioned to install new artwork on the hoardings along the front of the Sainsbury Centre building.
The project has been made possible due to the generosity of Kier Eastern, the main contractor working on the building project.
Nichola Johnson, director of the Sainsbury Centre, said: The staff at the Sainsbury Centre really are missing the art so it's great that Kier have helped us find a way over the next few months, to showcase new work from the region, even though we're closed.
Graham Howe, divisional director from Kier Eastern, commented We are extremely pleased to be working on the Sainsbury Centre. Having worked with the designers and staff over the past few months we appreciate how important the visual environment is to them. We are really pleased to be involved in supporting the art in this way.
