Remember the Sainsbury Centre in your will
The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts depends on the generosity of individuals to help fund many areas of its work. By remembering the Sainsbury Centre when making your Will, or adding a Codicil (an appendix) to an existing Will, you will have a direct and lasting effect on the future of our collections, our ability to stage ground-breaking exhibitions, showcase the latest scholarly research, engage with our communities and provide countless families and children with fun learning experiences.
Unrestricted legacies enable us to support the areas of the Centre’s work with the greatest need at any one time. If, however, you would like a particular aspect to benefit from your gift, this can also be arranged.
By remembering the Sainsbury Centre in your Will you could play a significant role in shaping the future of arts engagement, research and enjoyment.
You could specify how you would like the money to be spent by choosing any of the following:
- supporting our innovative and engaging education and outreach projects
- supporting our dynamic exhibitions programme
- conservation and development of our collections
- future capital projects to develop and enhance existing facilities
- the provision of scholarships for students within the School of Art History and World Art Studies.
Alternatively a non-specific bequest can be made, alllowing the Sainsbury Centre to use the funds wherever the need is greatest at the time and respond quickly to new opportunities for its students.
Recognition
A gift in your Will can be recognised in a number of ways, and the Sainsbury Centre is happy to discuss these options with you on an individual basis, to suit your needs and requirements.
Making a Will
A Will is an effective legal document that can help safeguard the future of those you care about and allows you to finalise your estate in a way that best reflects your wishes. There are many ways in which a legacy can take effect and we recommend that you seek professional legal advice to guide you through this process.
You might choose to leave a pecuniary legacy specifying the precise amount, or a residual legacy expressed as a proportion of your estate remaining after other bequests have been honoured. It is possible to change a Will at any time by adding a codicil which stipulates any amendments you wish to make to the original. Your solicitor will be able to help you make a codicil.
