Bogdan Achimescu

Bogdan Achimescu lives and works between his native Romania and his adoptive Poland. He studied at the Fine Arts Academy in Cluj, Romania and got his Masters Degree from the Fine Art Academy in Krakow, Poland. Achimescu's work has been shown around the world and is part of many collections including MOMA in New York, and the Uffizzi in Florence. His work was featured in Romania's Pavilion at the 2001 Venice Biennale as part of the Context Network project.

While methodologically based on drawing, his practice leads him to three-dimensional site-specific installation, interactive media,
printmaking, photography and video. Achimescu's themes oscillate between a utopian, detached state and dystopic views of contemporary political and social contexts.
