Out There will bring to Norwich international artists from a range of countries including Africa, Japan, South America, India, Australia and the UK, to make outdoor work for the parkland surrounding the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts. The artists will be working from a variety of cultural and geographical contexts, but share an interest in organic materials and processes. Brought together for a three week residency period, they will work on-site, alongside each other, to produce the site-specific works.
The work will be on show from 2nd July to 29th August 2005. Out There, together with East International and Interventions at the Norwich Castle Museum, will be a key component of Contemporary Arts Norwich in Summer 2005, creating a regional, national and international focus for contemporary artists and audiences in Norwich.
Out There will extend the Sainsbury Centres world art focus beyond the building while the Centre is closed to the public for major refurbishment. The exhibition is still in the early stages of planning, but further information will be available in Spring 2005.
