Figure
Early Cycladic (3200-2000 BC)
Greece: the Cyclades
Marble
h. 21.6 cm
UEA 341Figures are so far the best known Early Cycladic artefact. This figure dates from around 3000 2000 BC, a period in which several types and style of figure appeared. In this instance, the shield-shaped face is supported by a heavy neck. The arrangement of the arms is unclear. They appear extend as far as the knees, but it is also possible that they are crossing the front of the body.
