The Asian objects from the Robert and Lisa Sainsbury Collection span many regions; Japan, China and Korea, India and Pakistan, Southeast and Western Asia.
Covering a 5,000 year period from the Neolithic to the 19th century, these objects include ceramic vessels and sculptures, hanging scroll paintings, dignified religious figures, bronze animal subjects and intricate miniature paintings.
Many themes run through the collection, emphasising the importance of religion and ritual, whilst showing both courtly and everyday lifestyles.
