h. 16.5 cm
UEA 105During the course of the 20th century a number of ancient walrus ivory sculptures from islands in the Bering Sea, off the Northwest coast of Alaska, have come to light. Situated off the coast of Alaska, these islands have been occupied by humans from around 2500 BC, according to datable evidence. Among the distinctive and beautiful sculptures are figurines of which this is a weathered yet expressive example.
