Free-standing male figure

Dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, prior to missionary activity in New Zealand, this emasculated male figure belonged to a small collection of Maori images which represent deified ancestors. The figure is characterised by the male tattoo designs on the face and buttocks, and was made to be free standing.
