UEA 766Representing only a quarter of the original composition, this drawing is a preliminary sketch for a painting in which an opposing beast may have been found. The illustrated elephant runs out of control towards a corner of the courtyard where attendants on the surrounding plinth run for shelter as one of them holds a fire-cracker to deter the animal.
